Kerlink & WEGoT, an Indian Provider of IoT Water-Management Systems, to Partner on Major Expansion of Deployments

Goal Is to Save More than 10 Billion Liters of Water In Residential and Commercial Buildings by 2024.

Kerlink, a specialist in solutions dedicated to the Internet of Things (IoT), and WEGoT, a provider of wireless, real-time water-management systems, today announced they are partnering to expand and accelerate adoption of WEGoT’s solutions to help address serious water shortages in India.

With a population of more than 1.3 billion, almost one-fifth of the world’s population, India faces ongoing challenges providing adequate water for residential and industrial consumption. NITI Aayog, a public-policy think tank of the Indian government, forecasts the country’s water supply will meet only half of demand by 2030.

Designed for facilities ranging from hotels, hospitals and factories to high-rise residential buildings, WEGoT’s Aqua IoT-based solution monitors water-supply systems by tracking detailed consumption data via its highly accurate, ultrasonic sensors that measure water flow, pressure, and quality, and transmit the … Read the rest

1NCE increases bandwidth for cellular IoT device communication

1NCE increases bandwidth for cellular IoT device communication

  • 1NCE IoT Flat Rate now with up to 1 Mbit/s bandwidth for IoT connectivity
  • Shorter transmission times enable longer battery life for sensors
  • New data rate available immediately for existing and new customers

1NCE, the world’s first full-fledged operator of IoT network services, is increasing the maximum available data rates for cellular device communication in the Internet of Things for new and existing customers from 128 kbit/s to up to 1 Mbit/s.

All customers benefit immediately from the new bandwidth, benefitting especially those working on IoT projects that require energy efficiency.

Connecting sensors for smart applications in the Internet of Things is – unlike in the consumer environment – less about high data rates and more about broad availability, short latency, and long lifetime in the field. Simple sensor data such as coordinates, temperature, humidity, filling level or velocity can be transmitted quickly even at low data rates.

With 1NCE, … Read the rest

How Zero-Trust Should be Expanded to Include your Embedded Devices/IoT

How Zero-Trust Should be Expanded to Include your Embedded Devices/IoT

By Chris Rouland, Founder and CEO of Phosphorus.

Earlier this year, Ubiquiti, a Silicon Valley-based IoT device maker, disclosed that it had been hacked. Customer account credentials were exposed which allowed hackers to gain full access to all application logs, databases, user database credentials and information required to forge single sign-on (SSO) cookies. This level of access would allow the attackers to remotely authenticate to countless Ubiquiti cloud-based devices, putting customers’ devices, such as routers, network video recorders and security cameras, deployed in corporations and homes around the world at risk.

With an international presence in 200 countries and more than 85 million devices deployed, Ubiquiti had a colossal challenge on its plate. Once the vulnerabilities were identified and credentials were changed, customers were encouraged to reset passwords and implement two-factor authentication.

Security veteran, Brain Krebs recommended that all Ubiquiti customers change the passwords on any devices that haven’t been … Read the rest
